Great bookI love the Alex Cross series, I read them in one sitting:) This one was no different, except the title had nothing to do with the book at all。 I believe his last Cross book was the same。 Really no complaints at all except that。

Great action packed book。 I thought there would be too much with the three story lines but they worked so well together - easy to follow。

Well plotted with threads from various separate investigations intertwining which allowed for the distribution of various red herrings along the way。 Packed with action and with a mix of family humour - Ali is a card and Nana Mama #s strength is the mainstay of the Cross household - this is a quick and easy read。 However, for me, the Muslim terrorist trope was a little too predictable and is too often used。 It made me feel uncomfortable and thus the 3*

#AlexCrossMustDie #NetGalley I love James Patterson books and the Alex Cross series is one of my favourites! Book 31 in the series but still as fresh and edgy as book 1! But thrice!!!I'm not convinced all three cases needed to be present here, nor that they are equally compelling, but by the cliffhanger conclusion I'm looking forward to reading more。 I've been conditioned。。。 。。。more

Excellent as alwaysPatterson has done it again。 Alex Cross and John Sampson are hunting down a person killing early morning joggers with a shared past of juvenile delinquents with expunged records as adults。 Meanwhile someone is shooting down commercial flights and killing hundreds。 Fast paced story with many unexpected turns。 Very interesting and holds your attention。

Once upon a time, the Alex Cross thrillers used to have titles that sprang directly off the pages of popular nursery rhymes。 The tales typically dealt with Detective Cross matching wits with one or more devious serial killers。My how times have changed。 The more recent Cross novels have had much higher stakes and the latest release, ALEX CROSS MUST DIE, features one of the most violent acts James Patterson has ever created。 The opening sequence finds an ex-military type named Davis riding around Once upon a time, the Alex Cross thrillers used to have titles that sprang directly off the pages of popular nursery rhymes。 The tales typically dealt with Detective Cross matching wits with one or more devious serial killers。My how times have changed。 The more recent Cross novels have had much higher stakes and the latest release, ALEX CROSS MUST DIE, features one of the most violent acts James Patterson has ever created。 The opening sequence finds an ex-military type named Davis riding around the DC with some heavy artillery。 The night ends with an American Airlines jet being downed by a sub-machine gun, taking the life of over one hundred innocent people。Everyone who is anyone in the area of law enforcement and protection descend on Reagan Airport, including Detective Alex Cross and his partner John Sampson。 Their boss, Ned Mahoney, puts them directly on this case as a top priority。 This is especially taxing because the two have been currently chasing down a local serial killer nicknamed the Dead Hours Killer --- who continues to strike in spite of the attention being shifted to the national aviation tragedy。Cross and Sampson have been in the game long enough to be able to juggle these responsibilities, but never before have they faced such a quick need to bring a guilty party forward for the plane disaster。 As has been a regular thing in recent Alex Cross novels, we are faced with a parallel narrative involving a case where Alex’s wife Bree is working。 A colleague of her boss has gone missing and they end up identifying that she was on the plane that was felled。 Now, she just has to figure out why and see where her case might cross paths with the one Cross and Sampson are working。They follow up leads on a number of angry, highly weaponized individuals in the D。C。 area that could have been responsible for the plane, but nothing ends up going anywhere。 It becomes obvious that the person they should be looking at is a local High School football coach and former NFL player who later left for the military named Captain Davis。 When Cross and Sampson eventually get on to his trail they find someone who not only had the military know how to pull off this stunt but he was also a failed pilot who at one point was dropped from consideration by American Airlines due to drunkenness。When they bring Davis in for questioning they find some local resistance in his favor, particularly a fellow teacher named Fiona Plum who has a blind spot when it comes to Captain Davis and even locates an attorney to represent him。 From what we have been shown up to this point, it seems that Fiona Plum may be in for a rude awakening。All this goes on in conjunction with the Dead Hours case, which really upsets the local neighborhood once a popular teacher becomes one of his victims。 I have never seen Alex Cross more torn or out of sorts as this case, but remained stalwart that he would right the ship in both cases before the end of the story。Patterson has some surprises in store before things are wrapped up in this one and readers will quickly realize they have not seen the entire picture with the primary case here。 The only thing that confused me was the title of the novel as Alex Cross was never directly targeted and not in any more peril than he has been in any of his prior thrillers。 Also, I have noticed that John Sampson has continued to emerge as a key player in this series and was pleased to learn in a preview at the back of the novel that the next Cross novel will be listed as an Alex Cross AND John Sampson thriller。 Way to go, Sampson!Reviewed by Ray Palen for Book Reporter 。。。more

4。5 stars Overall I enjoyed this book。 The three different major plot lines definitely kept my interest。 The only thing is that I did quite get the same level of danger to Alex Cross that I did in the video trailer for the book。 Thanks to #netgalley, #littlebrown publishers, #JamesPattersonbooks, and the #JamesPattersonStreetTeam for this advanced copy (book comes out TODAY, 10/20/23) 。 My review is unbiased。

Another great book in the Alex Cross series! Cross and Sampson work hard to track down and stop both a serial killer and a terrorist。 I have loved every book in this series that I have been reading for years and was lucky to get a chance to read this one before it gets released。 Thank you, NetGalley and Little, Brown and Company!

If someone could explain to me how the title of the book is in any way relevant to the (very weak) plot, I’d really appreciate it。 It’s basically 400 pages of nothing, with not a single bit of advancement to any of the overarching stories of the series, followed by a few pages to set up the next book in the series。 I don’t know why I still bother with James Patterson tbh。

Was OK。 Seems to have struck a successful formula。 Almost factory like in the production。 Have not read many others, so I'm not familiar with the underlying story threads, although there was no barrier to reading the book。 Nothing startling but an enjoyable read。 Was OK。 Seems to have struck a successful formula。 Almost factory like in the production。 Have not read many others, so I'm not familiar with the underlying story threads, although there was no barrier to reading the book。 Nothing startling but an enjoyable read。 。。。more

I’ve been a reader of the Alex Cross novels for over 20 years now and have read every single book in the series - most of which I have thoroughly enjoyed and I would say it is my favourite of all of the many series by James Patterson and co。 So I suppose at some point in such a long running series that there’s going to be some bad ones, well this one was the worst of the lot for me and it really seems odd giving a book in such a much loved series for me a 2 star review but I really didn’t enjoy I’ve been a reader of the Alex Cross novels for over 20 years now and have read every single book in the series - most of which I have thoroughly enjoyed and I would say it is my favourite of all of the many series by James Patterson and co。 So I suppose at some point in such a long running series that there’s going to be some bad ones, well this one was the worst of the lot for me and it really seems odd giving a book in such a much loved series for me a 2 star review but I really didn’t enjoy this one。 The story is so cluttered and jumps from one case to the other all the time - none of which were actually that interesting anyway but I found it hard to follow (or care!) what was going on half the time。 Quite a few times I was going to quit as I was so bored with it but I really don’t like to DNF books so I carried on but by the end I wish I’d saved my time。 A real shame as Cross Down (released earlier this year) was brilliant but this had pretty much nothing to do with that and didn’t follow on。 The title is quite misleading too as there was no plot for someone to kill Alex Cross, so seems like a lucky dip title pick right there。 Here’s hoping to a better entry next year 🤞 。。。more

In the latest Alex Cross novel by James Patterson, Alex is tasked with solving two crimes, a serial killer who shoots out his victim's eyes and a terrorist attack on a plane that may just be the start of a series of attacks。 The plot is full of red herrings which sent me the wrong way several times and kept me guessing to the end。 As with all of Patterson's books, this is a real page turner, short cliff hanger chapters and a fast-paced plot just keeps you reading on to the end。 Alongside this, A In the latest Alex Cross novel by James Patterson, Alex is tasked with solving two crimes, a serial killer who shoots out his victim's eyes and a terrorist attack on a plane that may just be the start of a series of attacks。 The plot is full of red herrings which sent me the wrong way several times and kept me guessing to the end。 As with all of Patterson's books, this is a real page turner, short cliff hanger chapters and a fast-paced plot just keeps you reading on to the end。 Alongside this, Alex's wife, Bree Stone, investigates the murder of a young female athlete so you get three mysteries to solve in one。 One of the best Patterson's I have read for a while。 。。。more

So, this is the 32nd book in the Alex Cross series, and even though I enjoyed reading this one, I am finding them to be very similar plots to all the other books。 Something happens, and Alex Cross and his partner, James Sampson will eventually solve it。 Yeah, the writing keeps me eager to know what will happen, and since the chapters are short, it’s always difficult for men to stop reading。I do enjoy reading about his family, and the meals his Nana cooks!

Bree has two cases。 Cross has two。 Sampson is alone at times。 Flipping between these elements shortens chapters。Now we are told who is guilty of main investigation along with having secondary Cross case killer exposed from start。 Bree has only mysteries but unconvincing picking through the detail。Read the title。 He is shot at a few times but nothing in the book supports a title that implies that he is the target inferred。Unlike many other books the 4 elements identified very early on do not merg Bree has two cases。 Cross has two。 Sampson is alone at times。 Flipping between these elements shortens chapters。Now we are told who is guilty of main investigation along with having secondary Cross case killer exposed from start。 Bree has only mysteries but unconvincing picking through the detail。Read the title。 He is shot at a few times but nothing in the book supports a title that implies that he is the target inferred。Unlike many other books the 4 elements identified very early on do not merge into a single story。 It is not one book but 4 short stories。 Bree investigates a missing person and finds her as a victim in the terrorist attack but carrying a false passport in a previous name。 And this climaxes by being taken away from her into a fraud investigation by FBI。 No explanation of the need for such a passport。Her second starts as a favour for stepdaughter Jannie。 It becomes another missing person found murdered and when she stumbles on pertinent evidence the killer immediately commits suicide。 Absolutely no tension or depth to the story。The opening story for Cross and Sampson is a serial killer。 This is interspersed with the other three but is basically a short story that is stretched for most of the book。 The culprit is arrested and is more than willing to let us know the reasons for the spree。 Money!! Killer for hire。 No admission about hirer。 He dies of cancer in days but leaves behind a possible reference to a previous mastermind who has evaded Cross。And what should be the central story line of a massive terrorist storyline turns out to have two people using the same name which meant for me, at least, that I had no idea which version is in the earlier chapters。 The real version is missing for an unexplained period and a second spell briefly explained。 And the bogus version is killed by Cross。。。。。Another short story where most of the investigation appears off story with conclusions fed in so that Cross is directed to a car chase using data from onboard computer from the bogus version's car。Patterson has painted himself into a corner with Stone and Sampson。 She has no public job anymore but cannot follow a life of a housespouse, NanaMama is fulfilling that domestic base。 Stories for her are shoehorned into this ineffectively。Sampson is a Washington policeman as far as I can remember but ends up in stories linked to FBI although he is not employed by them。 In this book he also works in other police areas where FBI has a remit but is not partnering Cross all of the time。 And NanaMama does YouTube。 Filler。A very unsatisfactory book that is loose bits of ideas cobbled together。 。。。more

I would normally give a 4 ⭐️ plus for Alex Cross books but this one was too cluttered。 Too many storylines, with a couple of implausible ones such as the killing of Jannie’s friend and even Bree’s case involving someone killed on the same plane as Alex’s main case。 And the Ibrahim character changing his name to the main protagonist’s as a means of drawing us down the line of blaming Captain Davies。 AC’s 10-Yr-old son’s involvement - cracking the case? Way too much。
